Money of England

As throughout the United Kingdom, the official currency in London is the pound sterling (GBP, £) , in English, pound sterling. Each pound is divided into 100 pence.

Bills and coins

The most common banknotes have a value of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 British pounds . It is also possible to find £1 notes, but they are really rare as they are only printed in Scotland.

The coins in circulation are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 pence and 1 and 2 pounds . From time to time special editions of £5 coins are also launched but, as in Spain with these series, their circulation is merely theoretical.
